I stumbled across a magazine that I read in collage called Heaven’s Metal. It is now called The Hard Music Magazine. They cover hard Christian music like No Innocent Victim this months cover band. The edit even has his own blog.
Here are a couple of Bands that I listened to back in collage that have been featured in HM: Just to name a few.
Hi Chad,
That’s funny. I used to subscribe to Heaven’s Metal myself back when it was just a newsletter stuffed in an envelope. I thought it was pretty cool when it graduated to a magazine format with a cover printed on colored paper (although the entire magazine was still black and white–and still mailed in an envelope!). Actually, that magazine and a lot of the bands helped me get through some tough times growing up, so I remember it fondly.
I love your list of bands, except for Petra–they weren’t “heavy” enough for me.
Bloodgood came to my home town and played for no more than a crowd of 12. And they played like it was a packed arena. These bands were really doing it for more than themselves. They often didn’t get paid and got no respect from their peers. But you and I know why they really did what they did. God bless ‘em for it!
Anyway, I also recently stumbled across HM magazine, which really has graduated to a full-fledged, high-quality publication. I actually think I came across it on another Domino blogger’s site and ordered it imediately. Good stuff.
Anyway, just thought I’d say hi and that I appreciate your blog–great technical content.
Agreed about Petra, not my cup of soup either. Technically ok, but not loud enough for me. I’ve seen Whitecross and Bride live on the Dutch Flevo festival, some 12 or 13 years ago. Jerusalem and Whiteheart were there too – with dozens of other, less famous bands.
Bride rules! They actually have a newer CD out, however, I prefer to listen to their older stuff.
